Obvara Espresso Cups - Handmade Ceramic

The Obvara Espresso Cup by ceramicist Jacqui Sosnowski is a one-of-a-kind piece, handmade in Mullumbimby using the rare Obvara firing technique. Originating from Eastern Europe, Obvara produces smoky, organic surface patterns in earthy tones, ensuring no two cups are ever the same.

Perfectly sized for espresso or piccolo, this cup combines functionality with artisanal individuality. Collect one or several, each cup carries its own markings, making it both a functional vessel and a collectible ceramic artwork.

About the Artist
Jacqui Sosnowski specialises in alternative firing techniques - Obvara, Raku, Saggar, and wood firing. She is drawn to the serendipity and unpredictability of these processes, where each piece emerges from the fire with its own distinct markings and character. Every vase is one-of-a-kind and cannot be reproduced, celebrating chance, artistry, and imperfection.

From her studio in Mullumbimby, Northern Rivers (NSW, Australia), Jacqui creates both exhibition works and bespoke commissions. Her pieces embody the spirit of the land and the artistry of fire, offering timeless beauty for modern interiors.
